garlic fried rice

This is one of my favorite sides to eat with Asian food. It goes great with my Thai-style steamed fish, check out the recipe here!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of fragrant Thai rice

  • 1 ½ cup water

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 12-14 big garlic cloves, chopped or grated

  • 50 ml oil, any non-fragrant oil (I use sunflower oil)

 

Method

  1. Cook the rice with the water and salt.

  2. Heat the oil in a wok, add the garlic for a few seconds until light brown, then, immediately, add the cooked rice. Mix well, fast. Do not let the garlic burn, or the rice will taste bitter.

  3. I like to eat this rice with Thai-style steamed fish (see the recipe here) or in the morning topped with a sunny-side-up egg. Drizzle some Maggi seasoning on the egg and thank me later.
