My husband loves white beans and can have them every day. I tried to recreate his favorite Italian beans from a restaurant in KL where they accompany a beautiful T-Bone steak.

italian white beans with sage
Ingredients
1 kg white beans, canned
6 leeks, white part only, finely sliced or 4 medium onions
6 garlic cloves, smashed
6-8 sage leaves
100ml olive oil, extra virgin
200 ml chicken or vegetable stock
Salt and black pepper to taste
Extra olive oil for drizzle
Method
Heat the oil in a pot, add the leeks and garlic and sauté them with the lid on.
Add the sage leaves and then, when fragrant, the stock. Cover with the lid and leave to simmer until leeks are cooked, then add the beans, black pepper and salt to taste. Leave to simmer for a minute.
Turn off the heat and drizzle olive oil on top of the beans.
